Okay, so every so often when I open up my ramen, the oil packet will be all... cloudy? Like there's little white lumpies in there and it looks kinda... ew to be honest. But the oil makes it taste nice, so I kinda ignore that and use it anyway and make my food. Why is the oil cloudy like that? Is it moldy? Stale? Just settled funny? Am I gonna make myself sick one day by doing this, or is it nothing to worry about? I tried Googling, but 'cloudy oil' only gets me stuff about dirty deep fryers. =/

AMA White Elephant Gift Game - Part One

  • Dec. 15th, 2009 at 7:04 PM
Even if you don't celebrate Christmas, you can't go wrong with a good old-fashioned white elephant gift.

Part One: Your mission is to find an item online for either $20 or less and comment here with a picture of it (and a small description if you need to). This is the gift that you will be bringing to the party to give someone else (it's not for you :P).

Try to think out of the box. ;)

No, Google hasn't been taken over by a foreign country. The green-and-white flag over the Google logo today is the banner of the artificial language Esperanto, flying in recognition of the 150th birthday of its inventor, L.L. Zamenhof.

The environment—and the environmental movement—suffered significant setbacks in 2009, experts say. Among the lowlights: Lemurs became food, a lot of ice became water, and in the Caribbean some sharks became nonexistent.

Since it's the Christmas season, I've been thinking lately about the virgin birth and immaculate conception and all, and I was wondering...Ladies, how pissed would you be to find out you'd been knocked up without your knowledge or consent?

Do you have any icons that are pictures of yourself? If so, can I see your favorite one? Will you also post the full picture that the icon came from?

Tables in Illustrator CS3?

  • Dec. 15th, 2009 at 1:29 PM
I don't have InDesign, just to get that out of the way ;)

So I need to use a table in Illustrator. I'll need to edit the text and edit the table (margins etc). I found a webpage that sais you can copy/paste tables from Word into Illustrator but it definitely is not working - what it pastes is rows of this:
I@C'"%L"(.$;;%D+#:%/@:.%M@3"
etc.

Is there a way to make an editable table in Illustrator, or another program that's not InDesign (I KNOW I should be using InDesign but it's not installed on this computer. Either is PageMaker) - or a way to do in Illustrator? Or just tell me what I'm doing wrong copy/pasting with Word.

Thank you!!

I'm currently sitting in my sister & brother-in-law's living room, while they're napping, and their baby visible from the corner of my eye as she, too, dozes off. It makes me groggy myself. At least I have my laptop and a book with me.

I was supposed to come up on Sunday, but the roads quickly became a sheet of ice so I postponed until Monday morning. Weather's not as bad up here, ironically enough. Went with sister & baby to the pediatrician yesterday, and ran some errands today. Being useful is fun. Oh, and so is hanging out with my niece. I can almost pick up a baby without freaking out. We had a mini photo shoot so I'll have to post those when I get home (can't find the cable to pull photos off my camera from here. Oh well).

It's nice having some time off work. Though yesterday I called regarding a recently-opened position, not that I've received a call back. But knowing them, they probably don't want to call on my time off. Not that I care, personally. But I guess we'll see what's up when I return on Wednesday.

Maybe I'll test out the EA Active right now. I did a little earlier but jeans & a sweater isn't exactly workout attire. I did three squats and was spent. Yeah, I'll blame that on my attire.
